The Northern Plains Eye Foundation's mission to enhance eye health is achieved through programs in Public Education, Professional Education, Community Service and Research.  Examples of current programs or programs in the planning stage include:

 

Public Education

• Numerous Educational Exhibits/Events
• Healthy Vision Initiative Annually
• World Sight Day Sponsor
• Educational Programs on Eye Health and Safety in Elementary and Middle School
• Annual Health-Care Education Scholarship Program
• Promotion of Healthy Vision Month, and other health promotion
• Semi-Annual Newsletter, Newspaper Articles, Radio and TV coverage, Website, etc.  

      

Professional Education

• Sponsor for Optometric Conferences
• Sponsor Journal Club for Ophthalmologists
• Coordinate Speaker’s Bureau of Eye Care Professionals
• Arrange Job Shadow experiences for High School/College students
• Health-Care Education Scholarships for High School Students
• Continuing Health-Care Education Scholarships for College Students

 

Community Service           

• Healthy Vision Week
• Donations for Eye-Related Resources to Libraries
• Provide medically-necessary contact lenses (via Dr. recommendation--required)
• Christmas Gift of Sight Annual Program (eye surgery for an individual in need)
• Science Fair Sponsorship
• Collaborate with other eye-related organizations

• Obtain eye-related grants and fund eye-related research
